A working man in a bar is mistaken for a hitman and is handed $10,000 and a picture of a woman. He then meets the real hitman, gives him the money and tells him the hit is off. But calling off a hit is never easy. Tim must dig deep to protect the target. One of the few Koontz books I have read in the past few years that doesn't tippy toe through the realm of the supernatural. Our working man, Tim, is a relatively ordinary guy caught up in murder and political intrigue perpetrated by mortal men. This book is one of the reasons I like to read Dean Koontz.
