The story has an intriguing concept, but doesn't fulfill expectations. It is disjointed and drags in places, especially in the subconscious sequences. A little girl (Frankie) is hit by a bus and goes into a coma. Her older brother (Ben) who saw the accident thinks it was his fault. The parents put Frankie into a controversial treatment run by a brilliant but socially inept doctor (Lizzie) who is burdened by guilt from the death of her little brother many years before. Ben is electronically connected to his sister and goes under hypnosis to try to pull her out of the coma. When Ben flounders, Lizzie goes under hypnosis (helped by her father) and retrieves the kids from the depths of their subconscious minds, but pays a personal price.
