This book is only partly about travels, unless you consider Crichton's personal journey through life to be travels. There are three elements in the book:
The author's journey through medical school.
Interesting travels to exotic places. However there is some personal stuff that I would rather not know about Michael Crichton. You know that saying, too much information.
The author's journey into metaphysics and the paranormal.
This is non-fiction so I did not have to suffer with the comments about Crichton's one-dimensional characters. However, because it is not science-fiction it does not contain the blend of interesting concepts and life and death struggles that I like about of Crichton's novels. I raced through the last third of the book to get through it and on to something else.
